i845PE/GE Schedule Revealed

If you remember, some time ago (see this news story) the mainboard manufacturers were reported to have asked Intel to delay their i845PE and i845GE chipsets (both officially supporting PC2700/DDR333 memory), because the rapid launching of the new solutions could make the life of the contemporary i845G and i845E with PC2100 DDR266 support much shorter.

Intel did them a favour as we know, however, they preferred a “happy mean”: the chipsets will start shipping not this September (as Intel had initially planned) and not in November-December (as the mainboard guys had asked), but in October 2002. In other words, the company delayed the launching of the new i845PE and i845GE for one month. Not bad, anyway (the delay like that should also hold back the growth of the memory prices, too, as we told you here.
