Serial ATA RAID Card from Adaptec

Adaptec made an official press-release announcing that they were the first in the world to start shipping engineering samples of the SerialATA RAID PCI controller cards to the four largest OEMs dealing with workstation production. What a statement, eh? And all this is done to distract attention from the fact that the same cards have been already shipping by HighPoint for nearly a month already (see this news story).

Unfortunately, the company didn’t mention any details in their press-release. They didn’t even mention the family name for their products. Everything we know now is the fact that SerialATA RAID controllers from Adaptec support RAID 0, 1, 10 and 5, and the package includes 4 1-meter long SerialATA cables (which means that these are four-channel controllers). The CD with the drivers (for Windows and for Linux) and corresponding software is implied, I suppose. Now we are waiting for additional info on the matter.
