About a month has passed since Samsung started shipping the first samples of the DDR II chips, Elpida Memory Company (NEC + Hitachi) joined them.

These are 512Mbit chips manufactured with 0.13micron technology. They are packed into FBGA and work at 533MHz DDR and 1.8 voltage. There will be three configurations offered: 32M Word x 4-bit x 4-bank (EDE5104G), 16M Word x 8-bit x 4-bank (EDE5108G) and 8M Word x 16-bit x 4-bank (EDE5116G).<%BANNER[article]%>

At present one chip like that costs around $250. As soon as they start mass shipments, which are scheduled for Q1 2003 at the earliest, the price is expected to drop down, of course.
