Everybody knows that SiS has been pretty successful for the last 1.5 years. This is especially true for the desktop chipset market. SiS’ share in this market has grown by 7.4% last year and reached 17.4% (see this news story). The analysts supposed that its share will keep growing this year as well, and they have been right so far.
By this time, as we read over at Digitimes, SiS’ share in the Pentium 4 chipset market (which is the today’s largest market, actually) makes 15% letting only Intel own more. As for Socket A platform, things are much worse, here (because of the limited production capacities, which are not enough for both platforms). That is why the company is still in the third position in the entire desktop chipset market. However, as the analysts claim, SiS’ market share will keep increasing anyway. Taking into account the last month’s results and bearing in mind the improved production lines, the company is planning to hit 27.8 million chipsets (which is by the way, twice as much as last year). The same analysts claim that the PC sales will make around 130 million this year, which will allow SiS’s share to grow up to 21.5% (at VIA’s expense, I suppose).
