Well, we are witnessing another evidence proving how successful the three large chipset makers were in the past 5 months. Here:

Revenues in millions NT dollars

SiS1041-15%583635%

Again we have to stress that VIA has been extremely successful lately. If it were not for the limited production capacities, SiS could also catch up with the leader in terms of the revenues. As for ALi, we get a chance to see very happy picture. Although ALi owes it not to the good results of this year, but to the background made by poor results of last year, when they suffered a great failure in the market for desktop PC chipsets. After that the company learned its lesson and got rid of unpopular products on their product range (which were almost all desktop solutions they had then). Instead the company started working very hard in another field, optical devices chipsets, which definitely told on its revenues immediately. By the way, not that VIA and SiS lived through almost simultaneous revenues drop in May, while ALi was doing pretty fine, on the contrary. The reason is certainly ALi’s success in the optical chipsets market (by the way, VIA has also started working in this field, but without any loud success so far).
