As we have already mentioned in our CeBIT 2002 Coverage, the list of Taiwanese ATI supporters has now acquired a new member: SOYO, which is going to start making graphics cards on ATI chips this summer (they should be due some time in July). However, unlike Gigabyte, or C.P.Technology, SOYO is not planning to offer solutions based on the entire list of ATI chips. The company will be happy to offer cards based on RADEON 8500LE (R200, 250MHz/500MHz DDR), showing that they try to move from the low-cost to expensive products gradually. This way, there are 8 manufacturers on this list now: Gigabyte, CP Technology, Jetway, Sapphire, High Tech, Transcend, DFI and SOYO.
By the way, SOYO is the second one this quarter in terms on gross margin size. By SOYO is made 15.8%. Only ASUS has higher gross margin, although the difference is not too big. The value by ASUS is equal to 16.4% (MSI boasts 12.9%). And we actually still remember the times when this value by ASUS was around 30% even...
