We all know very well that VIA has never been very strong in the audio field. Try recalling the integrated sound of the VIA South bridge, which couldn’t boast any cool features or high sounding quality. However, VIA seems to be very aggressive trying to improve its reputation in this field lately. AT the upcoming Computex 2002 show VIA is going to try its best in the PC audio field together with such well-known makers as Midiman, TerraTec. ESI and Altec Lansing.

As we read at Digitimes, at the show VIA will present a full range of high-quality audio solution based on IDEnsemble chips, which VIA purchased in 2000. As you might know, this particular company developed the well-known Envy24 audio controller offering excellent sound quality. This controller records 24bit sound at 96KHz and offers 12 input/output channels. <%BANNER[article]%>

VIA representative said that cooperation with new partners in the sound market will definitely be a good start for VIA in the PC sound market. We regard this decision of VIA’s pretty logical and justified, as it will let the company not only enter the sound market but also improve the sound quality in its integrated solutions.
