VIA made an official press-release announcing a new PCI-IEEE 1394a Bridge - VIA Fire IIM VT6307 (the previous one, VIA Fire II VT6306, was announced in February).

The new IEEE 1394a controller is produced by TSMC with0.3micron manufacturing technology, is packed into more compact cases (14x20 PQFP, 14x20 LQFP è 14x14 LQFP) and is intended for the mobile and low-profile devices market.<%BANNER[article]%>

The chip complies with IEEE 1394-1995 Release 1.0 and IEEE 1394a P2000 specifications and boasts full support of 1394a P2000. It supports two 1394a ports working at 100, 200 and 400Mbit/sec, 32-bit PCI 2.2 bus with power saving functions and cardbus interfaces. The chip is equipped with OHCI-compatible interface and supports I2C EEPROM or 4-wire serial ROM.
