Today AMD made an official press-release confirming the final specialization for its Fab 25 in Austin (Texas). As we have already mentioned here, Fab.25 will be producing only flash-memory. The last CPU supply will be shipped from that fab in Q3 2002.

They have already invested quite a lot into this conversion. Basically, the finances were invested into the implementation of 0.13micron manufacturing technology. They are planning to set new equipment into operation by the end of the year. As you know, the fab is now producing 32mbit and 64Mbit flash-memory chips with 0.17micron technology.<%BANNER[article]%>

But this is also not the end. If you have been following our news carefully, then you may have already guessed that the only type of flash memory Fab.25 is going to produce will be MirrorBit.
