This week Plextor Europe announced a new external CD-RW drive: PlexWriter 40/12/40U. The drive is equipped with USB 2.0 interface and is capable of making a reserve copy of anything (even license CDs) really fast: Plextor stresses the incredible quality of audio files extraction. And in addition to audio the new drive supports DC-text mode.

The boxed version of this product goes together with 5 empty CD-R disks, 1 CD-RW disk, special Nero +InCD (OEM version) software, Plextor Utility (PlexTools), 1 USB cable, a PSU (why does USB stand only 0.5A without any trouble?).<%BANNER[article]%>

All other specifications of the PlexWriter 40/12/40U look as follows: 40x CD-R, 12x CD-RW, 40x CD (nothing surprising so far, eh?), BURN-Proof buffer protection, PoweRec-II and VariRec writing optimization. As usual, they use a specially laid out PCB granting no EMI, FlashROM with easy to update firmware. The drive is ready to use Mount Rainier technology and boasts an embedded set of test checking the drive and the disks surface quality.

PlexWriter 40/12/40U should appear in retail in June and is expected to cost around 239 Euro.
