Elitegroup made an official press-release announcing a new mainboard aka K7SOM based on SiS740 chipset. This is the second mainboard from Elitegroup already on this chipset. The first one, L7SOM, was announced in January 2002 (see this news story).
The two solutions are very similar to one another, though there are a few differences in the PCB design. The new K7SOM boasts two additional DIMM slots for the maximum of 2GB PC100/PC133 SDRAM, and has a different location of the AMR slot and RJ-45 Ethernet connector. One more difference is the support of ATA/133 implemented on K7SOM (it uses SiS961 Rev. B South Bridge, and later will be provided with SiS962 South bridge supporting USB 2.0).<%BANNER[article]%>
All other specifications of the board remained the same as by L7SOM: MicroATX form-factor, Socket A, 2 DIMM slots for up to 2GB PC1600/PC2100 DDR SDRAM, 3 PCI slots, integrated SiS315 graphics core, no AGP slot, Magic Setting technology (system bus frequency adjustment via BIOS Setup).
