Next week Micron technology Company is going to introduce its first SoC (System on Chip) solution at the Embedded Processor Forum (April 29 – May 2 in San Jose). This solution is known under the codename G0.

The chip is based on a 166MHz SC1 RISC core from Mips Technologies (last year Micron purchased a corresponding license from Mips). It features 1MB 64Kbitx128 EDRAM (Embedded SDRAM, Micrond brand name solution, which hasn’t yet become very widely spread), serial port interface, USB controller (4 ports) and ATA controller (2 channels). There is also AC’97 sound codec.<%BANNER[article]%>

Micron positions this processor for network traffic control systems, PDAs, cable modems and even cell phones.
