First SiS Xabre400 Benchmarks

Here I saw the first testing results of Triplex Xabre Pro graphics card based on the freshly announced SiS Xabre 400 chip.
Frankly speaking, these tests are somewhat “doubtful”: they didn’t even mention the testbed configuration that is why we will not draw any conclusions now. Although some things are still worth mentioning here:
- Firstly, the revision of the chip is A0, which means that it is the very first working chip version, which may not go into mass production (to tell the truth, I don’t remember if A0 chips have ever been produced in mass quantities). There is a month left before Xabre should start shipping in mass, and this time is more than enough for the new chip revision to appear.
- Secondly, judging by these benchmarks results, Xabre400 (250MHz chip and 500MHz memory frequencies) outperforms GeForce4 MX440 in 3DMark quite significantly (6228 against 5458) and GeForce4 MX460 a little bit. Is it good or bad for Xabre400? On the one hand, of course, it is good, but on the other… with the number of pipelines and TMUs (4 with 2 on each, just like by GeForce4 Ti) the results could be much better. Though this is nevertheless an excellent result for a company, that used to deal only with cheap graphics chips.
