ABIT announced the launching of one more mainboard based on VIA KT333 chipset. As you know the first product based on this core logic, aka AT7, broke the traditional vision of a mainboard. Following ABIT MAX concept, AT7 featured an integrated four-channel ATA/133 RAID controller, 6-channel AC’97 sound controller, supported SD and MD cards, boasted USB 2.0 and IEEE 1394 controllers, but at the same time had only 3 PCI slots and cost quite a lot: $170. The recent sales of AT7 solution showed that the market was not ready for an innovative product like that, so ABIT had to release one more VIA KT333 based mainboard, this time complying with our traditional idea of a mainboard.
This new product is called KX7-333. I have to stress that since ABIT didn’t have the time to design another KT333 based mainboard anew, KX7-333 is built on the PCB borrowed from VIA KT266A solution, i.e. KR7A-133. This way the features of KX7-333 are absolutely the same as those of the predecessor.<%BANNER[article]%>
Here they are: Socket A, 4 DDR DIMM slots for PC1600/PC2100/PC2700 DDR SDRAM, integrated ATA-133 RAID controller (HPT372), AGP 4x, 6 PCI slots, 4 USB 1.1 ports.
