MSI announced a new technology called "PC2PC Bluetooth". The name of the new technology lets us guess that it uses Bluetooth principles and allows establishing the point-to-point or point-to-multipoint connection between the PCs.
To support PC2PC Bluetooth MSI mainboards will be provided with a special transceiver with an antenna and a special "Transceiving Key" wit USB 2.0 interface, which is connected to the second PC this establishing the connection. Like all Bluetooth devices, PC2PC Bluetooth transceivers use high-frequency signal, allow transferring the data at up to 1Mbit/sec and ensure perfect connection at up to 100m distance.
From my personal experience, I would like to note that the maximum distance between the two PCs depends a lot on the fact, if there are any physical obstacles in the way between the PCs, even despite the high-frequency signal, which should pass through these physical obstacles easily. For instance in a multistoried concrete building, this distance may be limited to 2-3 floors only, though the direct distance between the two PCs will hardly exceed 15-20 meters. The problem lies with the relatively low signal power. However, there is hardly anything to be done about it: a powerful transmitter with a frequency like that can grill a chicken in no time. :)
The company reports that the first mainboards supporting PC2PC Bluetooth will be based on Intel chipsets and will support 533MHz QP bus (i845E and i850E officially due in May).
