Taiwanese companies keep diversifying their business very actively. Sometimes, very funny things take place. For example, we has already told you that Transcend, which has been always known as a memory maker, will now be also working in the VGA business (see this news story). And now we suddenly learn from Digitimes that Leadtek is about to make a totally opposite thing: the company, which have all known as a VGA card manufacturer (and hardly known as mainboard manufacturer, though they produce mainboards) reported about their intention to open a division dealing with production and sales of the memory modules.
We don’t know yet what kind of memory modules these will be, however we dare make a supposition that Leadtek will focus on fast DDR SDRAM DIMMs. But this is only our supposition, nothing more. The real state of things will come to light later.
