Japan has once again proven to be the country of early novelties: there you can already buy a new Pentium 4 processor working at 2.4Ghz core clock frequency (0.13micron Northwood core, 400MHz Quad Pumped Bus).
From what we know now (see this news story), this CPU is expected to be officially launched on April 1 (a pretty strange date for the new product launch, don’t you think so? :)) and should have the initial price of $562 for 1,000-unit quantities. In Japanese retail stores this CPU is now selling for $580-$600, not expensive at all, eh? For Intel and Japanese guys, of course :) And for some other people $600 mean a rather nice PC...
