Our friends at Clubic.com have an interesting new story on MSI and its plans for the coming CeBIT. Like many other mainboard manufacturers, MSI is going to showcase a couple of very promising mainboards based on new chipsets. Most novelties will be designed for Intel Pentium 4 processor. Among them are:
- 645 Max2-LRU. This Socket478 mainboard based on the new SiS645DX chipset will support Pentium 4 processors with 533Mhz bus. The mainboard will have an integrated ATA/133 RAID controller from Promise, a USB 2.0 controller from NEC and a network controller from Realtek. Also 645 Max2-LRU will be equipped with a 6-channel sound controller and have 3 DIMM slots for PC2700/PC2100 DDR SDRAM. Besides, there will be 5 PCI, AGP 4x and 1 CNR slot.
- 645 Max. This mainboard will be based on the PCB of the previous model, but will have no integrated chips onboard.
- MS-6580. This mainboard is built on an integrated i845G chipset. It will have 6 PCI, an AGP 4x and a CNR slot.
- MS-6398E. This solution will use a new i845E chipset supporting 400/533MHz bus and USB 2.0. The mainboard will support PC2100 DDR SDRAM, feature AGP 4x slot, 6 PCI and 1 CNR slot. It will also have an ATA/133 RAID controller from Promise.
- MS-6566E. This is a similar solution to the previous one, but without the integrated RAID controller.
Yeah, CeBIT is going to become a place for bunches of mainboards like that to be announced. As far as SiS648, VIA P4X333 and SiS748 chipsets are concerned, the solutions based on then promise to be a rare thing at the show.
