I don’t believe my own eyes: is it finally happening? SiS made an official press-release about the beginning of mass production of their new SiS745 chipset for AMD CPUs with the integrated IEEE1394 (Firewire) controller.

This chipset was ready last autumn (it was announced then, check our news archives for more), however, the company couldn’t provide sufficient quantities of this chipset to satisfy the needs of the mainboard makers. Although, SiS’ No.1 partner, Elitegroup, has been shipping its K7S6A mainboard for a while already (we noticed it in retail on February 1). Now the SiS745 based mainboards from other manufacturers are also cropping up on the shop shelves.<%BANNER[article]%>

Unfortunately, the price of the chipset in 1,000-unit quantities is not reported, we suppose that as usual, it shouldn’t exceed $25, being even lower for the company’s primary partners. The detailed SiS745 specs are available here.
