ABIT Entering Server Market

ABIT again announced their desire to enlarge the offered product range. Some time ago the company started making graphics cards and multimedia products. Now, ABIT is going to begin production of mainboards and platforms for servers and workstations. The first products in this new field ABIT will showcase at the coming CeBIT show.

According to our info, ABIT will start with the boards based on the recently launched Intel 7500E chipset for dual-processor systems on Intel Xeon (Prestonia). The first server board from ABIT will be called SI-2P.<%BANNER[article]%>

SI-2P mainboard will have two Socket603, 6 DIMM slots, 4 regular PCI-X slots and 2 PCI-X slots supporting "Hot Plug", integrated dual-channel Ultra160 SCSI controller and 1Gbit Ethernet controller.

Besides SI-2P mainboard, ABIT will also offer pedestal and rack-mount (barebone) platforms with SI-2P mainboards.
