According to the info from our reliable though unofficial sources, the mass shipments of the graphics cards based on NVIDIA GeForfce4 Ti family are to start next week.
On February 7 NVIDIA announced two new graphics chips families: GeForce4 Ti and GeForce4 MX. However, the graphics cards manufacturers have been shipping only solutions on GeForce4 MX460 and MX440 chips since then. The other chips seem to have been waiting for their time to come, and now this finally happened. Most graphics card makers are going to start shipping solutions built on the faster GeForce4 Ti 4600 and Ti 4400 chips next week already. By this time, they have a lot of GeForce4 Ti 4600 and Ti 4400 based cards in stock, so there is not so much waiting left before these cards appear in retail.<%BANNER[article]%>
As for two more chips: GeForce4 Ti 4200 and GeForce4 MX 420, the graphics cards based on them should start shipping much later. GeForce 4 Ti 4200 can’t start selling yet, because it will turn out a direct competitor to GeForce3 Ti 500, which still remains in stock in large quantities. According to some preliminary estimates, these graphics cards will not be able to sell out before end of May that is why you shouldn’t expect GeForce4 Ti 4200 to appear before the end of spring. As for the graphics cards based on GeForce4 MX 420 and equipped with SDR memory, they are most likely to begin selling in April. GeForce4 MX 420 will cost around the same as GeForce2 MX 400 does.
