In a press-release Adaptec announced what it would demonstrate at Intel Developer Forum held this week:
- The most interesting novelty will be a 4-channel RAID controller for Serial ATA hard disk drives, which will be demonstrated working with four HDDs within a 2U high rack-mount Dell Power App server.
- Attention will be also paid to Ultra320 SCSI interface. It will be shown working with RAID level 5 with five Cheetah X15/Ultra320 hard disks. Furthermore, Adaptec plans to show the ability of AIC-7902 chip for hardware mirroring (RAID 1) of two hard disks (Maxtor Atlas 10K II Ultra320).
- Two more items to be demonstrated at the Forum will be 2GBFibre Channel controller (Adaptec 9210LP) and an external data storage subsystem (Adaptec 7220SS) using this interface.
- USB 2.0 support won’t be forgotten either. Adaptec will show a notebook from Dell with an Xhub 7 Plus connected to it, to which in their turn will be connected all sorts of devices: CR-RW drive, web camera, HDD, printer and "even" a mouse (sic! :)
- The last issue will be new RAID management and USBControl software.
