OCZ Technology Group, a leading supplier of solid-state drives (SSDs), on Thursday announced that it has shipped its one millionth solid state drive. Since starting to offer SSDs roughly three years ago, solid-state drives became OCZ's major product line and the company canned its traditional DRAM family.

OCZ offers a broad array of interface options for solid state drives including SATA, SAS, Fibre Channel, PCI-Express, and the proprietary High-Speed Data Link (HSDL). OCZ designs and manufactures SSD solutions to address a wide spectrum of applications from personal computers and high-performance workstations to mission critical enterprise storage arrays.

OCZ started to offer SSDs back in 2008 and gradually the demand towards SSDs has been rising from thousands to tens of thousands of drives per quarter. In order to fulfill the demand towards its solid-state drives, the firm established a new production facility in Taiwan late last year to boost its production capacity to 140 thousand SSD  units per month. To further improve its competitive positions on the emerging market, OCZ acquired various solid-state drive-related intellectual property and recently bought Indilinx, a well-known designer of controllers for SSDs.

For Q4 FY2011 OCZ expects to earn $64 million, of which $58 million will account for sales of solid-state drives, which represents approximate increase of 380% year-over-year and 40% sequentially. The expected Q4 SSD product mix in Q4 FY2011 is comprised of 7% consumer, 78% server, and 15% enterprise devices.
