Mushkin, a maker of high-end PC components, said on Tuesday that it would show off new high-end Scorpion Deluxe and Ventura Ultra solid-state drives at the Flash Memory Summit for the first time. The drives will be shown in their final form and will reach the market later this year. Both can set performance records in their PCI Express and USB 3.0 categories of storage products.

"Participating in the Flash Summit is a great opportunity for us to show just what we are getting ready to release and how we continue to innovate. We are confident in the Scorpion Deluxe and Ventura Ultra, and there is no better way to express that than to display just how fast and powerful they are," said Nicolas Villalobos, director of global marketing at Mushkin.

Mushkin will demonstrate the final production unit of the Scorpion Deluxe PCIe solid-state drives, which can reach up to 2165MB/s read and 1990MB/s write as well as 100 000 4K read IOPS. Mushkin will begin to make the new ultra-high-end Scorpion available starting from late-August, 2013; pricing is unknown.

In addition, Mushkin will show off Ventura Ultra 240GB USB 3.0, one of the world's fastest flash drives with a 455MB/s read and 445MB/s write rate. The product will be available towards the end of August.

"We are bringing out products that will really change the nature of the game.  They will be among the fastest products available for professionals, gamers, innovators and creative producers," said Brian Flood, director product management at Mushkin.

Agree. Even the yet-to-be-released SATA 3.2 is slower than the max speed of PCIe 3.0

I'd love one of these but I would probably have nightmares over the $$$$$$ it would cost
