We told you on Tuesday that Hitachi, Maxtor and Seagate were recalling their HDDs made in China because of enormously high defect rate of certain models based on a report from DigiTimes. The Inquirer has official responses from representatives of all three companies who deny any product recalls.
<%BANNER[article]%>Seagate denied the company recalls any 40 or 80GB mainstream products made in China or in any other facilities. Maxtor also did not admit any product recalls and added that the company was frustrated with the report from Digitimes. In fact, the company currently even has no facilities in China. Officials from Hitachi Global Storage Technologies joined their colleagues from other HDD companies telling there has been no recalls at all.
All in all, we have to beg pardon from our readers as well as HDD companies for misleading information published earlier. Indeed, everything is on track and your data is stored safely.
