OCZ Technology Group said on Tuesday that it was qualified within Silicon Graphics International (SGI) supercomputing solutions and Rackable servers. The qualification designates OCZ as an official supplier and allows OCZ to begin selling its high-performance SSDs for integration into SGI's products.

"We are pleased to partner with OCZ Technology as a key collaborator in our enterprise solid state strategy for both server and storage solutions. By leveraging the exceptional performance and reliability of OCZ's SSDs, we continue to push the envelope in high-performance computing and data management and deliver an even more robust total solution to our clients," said Kurt Kuckein, director of storage product marketing at SGI.

OCZ enterprise-grade SSDs were selected for use in SGI's Octane III desk-side supercomputers targeted at strategic science, research, development and visualization challenges which require a system that keeps pace with intensive workloads and multitasking. OCZ drives will also be offered in select Rackable Rackmount servers and other SGI InfiniteStorage configurations for commercialized storage and data centers, adding flexibility for SGI's customers when choosing an ideal SSD configuration. SGI's breadth of customer base includes government, media, education, energy, cloud computing and manufacturing organizations, all of which are turning to the benefits of SSDs to optimize their storage infrastructures.

OCZ's commitment to the enterprise market continues to promote growth opportunities signified by the SGI partnership. As the demand for increased storage efficiency, maximized data throughput, and a smaller operating footprint broadens across various industries, OCZ will leverage SGI's market reach while providing the solutions necessary to meet and exceed their customers' expectations.
