OCZ Unveils Vertex 3 SSD with Maximized Input/Output Performance

OCZ Technology Group on Tuesday introduced two new Vertex 3-series solid-state drives (SSDs) with maximized input/output (IO) performance. The new drives are aimed at those customers who are interested in maximum possible IO throughput and are not willing to acquire ultra-expensive specialized solutios.

 

“Following the successful launch of our Vertex 3 Serial ATA- 600 solid state drives we are pleased to introduce the new Max IOPS edition. Vertex 3 Max IOPS drives increase random write performance, and are the ideal storage solution for applications that require high aggregate workloads and increased IO throughput," said Ryan Petersen, chief executive officer of OCZ.

Available initially in 120GB and 240GB capacities, the new the new Vertex 3 Max IOPS drives, just like other Vertex 3-series of SSDs, are based on SandForce SF-2200 SSD controller as well as enterprise-grade multi-level cell (MLC) NAND flash memory. Thanks to firmware tweaks, the Max IOPS deliver 65 000 (240GB) or 75 000 (120GB) 4KB random write operations per second (IOPS) as well as 55 000 (240GB) or 35 000 (120GB) 4KB random read IOPS. Both drives offer maximum read speed of up to 550MB and maximum write speed of up to 500MB. Typical

Vertex 3 Max IOPS will be available in capacities of 120GB, 240GB, and 480GB, and features Trim support to optimize performance over the drive's lifespan. All Vertex 3 Series drives come backed with a 3 year warranty and offer two million hours MTBF.
