OCZ Technology Group this week introduced its new line of relatively affordable solid-state drives (SSD) that use the same Indilinx Everest 2 controller which revolutionized SSD performance on more expensive Vertex 4 SSDs. The new Agility 4 SSDs deliver up to 400MB/s read and write speeds, which is a new level for cost-efficient solid-state drives.
OCZ Agility 4 SSDs are available in 64GB, 128GB, 256GB and 512GB capacities and are based on NAND flash memory produced using 20nm-class fabrication process. The drives use Indilinx 2 SSD controller with up to 1GB DRAM cache as well as Serial ATA-6Gb/s interface. The Agility 4 series of 2.5" SSDs consistently delivers transfer rates of up to 400MB/s read/write speed, and up to 85 000 random write IOPS.
This advanced Everest 2 controller architecture also includes key features such as an advanced error correction code (ECC) engine, dynamic wear-leveling, auto encryption, and Indilinx’s next generation Ndurance 2.0 NAND flash management technology, enabling OCZ to support the Agility 4 SSD line with a 3-year warranty.
“For mainstream storage applications, there is no product better suited in the industry than our Agility 4 SSDs, providing the ultimate in access speed, application performance, endurance and reliability, at price points that most cost-conscious users will find appealing. As mobile users and applications continue to grow, adding to the deluge of data being generated on a daily basis, our Agility 4 SSD series provide great IOPS performance at a reasonable price enabling the user experience to be heightened especially for video streaming, music, photos, gaming, and online transaction processing (OLTP),” said Ryan Petersen, chief executive officer of OCZ Technology.
OCZ Agility 4 SSDs will be available shortly from resellers of OCZ's products.
