Qnap’s Mid-Level NAS Devices Support XBMC

Qnap, a leading manufacturer of network area storage (NAS) products, has introduced its new the TS-x69 Pro and TS-x69L families of mid-level NAS products powered by the new dual-core Intel Atom processor that also support XBMC technology and therefore can be used as large-capacity multimedia servers.


The Qnap TS-x69 Pro and L series come in 2, 4, 5, 6 and 8 bay models and are powered by Intel Milstead platform and dual-core Intel Atom 2.13GHz processor with 1GB of DDR3 memory (expandable memory up to 3GB). The new NAS devices feature dual Gigabit Ethernet ports, eSATA, SuperSpeed USB 3.0, USB 2.0 interfaces and support hard drive hot swapping. The Qnap TS-x69 Pro and TS-x69L families are compatible with Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac and support virtualization technologies.

The XBMC media center feature allows users to directly connect the NAS through their TV’s HDMI port for direct media playback. Users can now watch their favorite movies, videos, listen to their favorite music, and view their photos directly on their TV. With XBMC, users can also manage their video library, create/manage their own personal music playlists and create their own photo slideshows. The XBMC media center feature can be downloaded for free from the company’s web-site.

The TS-x69 Pro and L series come in 2, 4, 5, 6 and 8 bay models with prices ranging from $479 for the 2-bay models to $1099 for the 8 bay models.
