Super Talent Technology, a leading manufacturer of NAND flash storage solutions, has unveiled its new RAIDDrive II Plus PCIe solid-state drives that provide ultimate performance as well as advanced capacities. The drives are designed for high-end servers and support a number of technologies that boost performance and reliability. The drives can also be used for workstations and high-end desktops.
Super Talent’s RAIDDrive II Plus is the next generation of PCIe SSDs developed by Super Talent that are based on an LSI SandForce controller (LSI 2108 ROC processor for RAID core and SAS microcode). The drives utilize multi-level cell (MLC) NAND flash memory and are available in 480GB, 1TB and 2TB (1.6TB in RAID 5 mode) capacities. The new high-end SSDs deliver top of the line read/write speeds of up to 2600/3200MB/s with the PCIe 2.0 x8 lane host interface and utilizes a 1GB onboard DDR2 SDRAM cache with ECC protection. The RAIDDrive II Plus houses eight discrete SATA SSDs and comes in a custom form-factor measuring 231.5*94.0*20.6mm.
The RAIDDrive II Plus architecture also provides a redundant flash image for adapter availability as well as NVRAM for RAID configurations and a transaction log. There is a system status indicator through a global HDD activity/fault connector, an alarm buzzer, SMTP support for email notifications, and SNMP support for remote management.
Pricing of Super Talent RAIDDrive II Plus is unknown, but given its performance and custom design, it will be very high.
