IBM and Hitachi announced that beginning from the 1st January of 2003 they are no longer responsible for the quality questions or anything related to HDD’s warranties. IBM transfers all support for Hard Disk Drives to Hitachi Global Storage Technologies and on Monday, January 6th, 2003, customers can continue RMA service via the Hitachi End User RMA site.

Keeping in mind the fact that there were a lot of quality issues with IBM’s hard disks, let us hope that Hitachi know what they are doing – remember that they promised to make the company profitable by April 2004, while all warranty issues is a direct obstacle to that. <%BANNER[article]%>

What is very good, there will be a company to replace a broken HDD. End-users should be glad. Hitachi End-User RMA site is located here.
