Just like ATI Technologies and probably NVIDIA, SiS is going to unveil a number of DirectX 9.0-supporting graphics processors for different market segments. As it was revealed some time ago, SiS occupies 8% of the PC graphics market nowadays (see this news-story), thus, it is logical for them to bring a number of totally different solutions for different sectors of the market in order to expand the overall share.

As I have read over at this web-site, there will be SiS340, dubbed Xabre II, as well as the code-named SiS341 graphics processor. SiS’ Xabre II VPU supports the DirectX 9.0 features, including Pixel Shaders 2.0 and Vertex Shaders 2.0. The VPU features 8 rendering pipelines and its target core-clock is 375MHz. SiS plans to utilise DDR-II SDRAM memory, just like NVIDIA, clocked at 500MHz (1000MHz). According to SiS’ presentation at Platform Conference, Taiwan, the SiS341 implements 4 rendering pipes and runs at the same core and memory clocks. The former fact is quite possible, while the latter is doubtful, as fast DDR-II memory chips are too expensive to be installed on a budget graphics card.

Xabre II is expected to be launched at CeBIT, Hannover.
