3Dlabs will be demonstrating its newest Wildcat VP990 Pro workstation graphics card with 512MB of onboard memory at CeBIT 2003 starting from Wednesday, the 12^th of March.

The Wildcat VP990 and is the first shipping PC graphics board with 512 MB of standard 256-bit DDR SDRAM memory. Like previous Wildcat VP cards, it supports full virtual memory that maximizes the benefit of the on-board memory and can be installed in any AGP 4x or AGP 8x slot. The new Wildcat VP990 Pro is also equipped with dual high-resolution 10-bit display DACs and supports dual DVI-I monitors.

The Wildcat VP990 Pro boasts with the fastest core clock speed in the Wildcat VP line of professional graphics cards and can process up to 225 million vertexes per second and up to 42G of AA samples per second.

3Dlabs claims that the Wildcat VP990 Pro is designed to meet the needs of any professional graphics user who is dealing with large models or scenes, who needs to drive one or more high-resolution screens, including the latest nine mega pixel display technology at full resolution (3480 x 2400), or who needs to enable anti-aliasing at high screen resolution for the ultimate in display quality.

3Dlabs says that there are a lot of markets for the graphics card with 512MB of memory and a powerful programmable graphics chip. For instance, in the DCC industry, large amounts of onboard graphics memory will enable the use of large models with huge textures and extensive special effects at high-levels of interactivity by storing enough data on-board to avoid swapping textures across the system bus during image generation and display. For CAD users with large on-board memories enables very large models to be stored locally for large gain in interactivity in markets such as automotive and aerospace design. In visual simulation applications, large amounts of graphics memory allow the loading of multiple large terrains for editing and simulation.

The 3Dlabs Wildcat VP990 Pro has an estimated street price of 999 euros and is slated for worldwide shipment in April through leading distributors and systems integrators. In the USA the product will cost $899, for other countries the price may vary. The Wildcat VP990 Pro competes with the NVIDIA Quadro4 980XGL, QuadroFX 1000 and ATI FIRE GL X1.
