As expected, Matrox Graphics began to sell its Millennium P750 graphics cards based on Parhelia technology unveiled last year. As always, the first graphics cards are available in Japan and, as a reader pointed out, in the UK, while the rest of the world will catch up in a couple of weeks.

Earlier this year Matrox Graphics said it would bring two new Millennium graphics cards on the market: the P650 and P750. The Millennium P650 is equipped with 2 DVI-I connectors, 64MB of memory and DualHead support. Its MSRP is about 169 Euro or US dollars depending on the region. The Millennium P750 graphics card also comes with 64MB of DDR SDRAM and a couple of DVI-I connectors. It provides TripleHead support and should be priced at 235 Euro. Both products feature 128-bit memory bus and are typically slower than the original Parhelia 512 in 3D applications. As we revealed recently, the P750 is slower than SiS’ Xabre 400 in numerous 3D games (see this news-story).

Matrox Graphics’ Millennium P650 and P750 graphics cards support AGP 4x/8x modes and cannot be installed in older mainboards with AGP 2x. Note that the Millennium P650 and P750 are based on the so-called Parhelia LX chip. The latter support the same features as found on the original Parhelia 512, such as Direct X 8.1 and even Vertex Shader 2.0 full hardware support.

Despite of Matrox Graphics’ recommendations, Millennium P750 graphics cards are priced at $315 in Japan (see this web-site) what seems to be a too high price for such solution.

Apparently, you can get the Millennium P750 in the United Kingdom as well. For just Ł173 over here.
