XGI representatives confirmed the launch of three new graphics processors aimed at different market segments in an interview to SiliconStrategies web-site. The company also said that it plans to continue developing Trident graphics chips for mobile markets and we should expect Trident XP5 to show up sometime in future. Nevertheless, following the latest trends in graphics processors’ development approaches, both XGI and Trident teams will become one in 2004.

The rep from Extreme Graphics Innovation also confirmed that his company will make a lot of efforts in order to popularize XGI’s brand-names. “For a graphics vendor, if you just totally focus on the entry level it is not easy to build your brand name,” company’s President Mr. Chris Lin said. “So in order to get back into being a real graphics vendor for discrete parts, we need to offer a full product line to the market, including high end, mainstream and entry level.”

In September – presumably at Computex Taipei 2003 – XGI will roll-out three new DirectX 9.0 graphics chips code-named XG40, XG41 and XG42. In the fourth quarter the company will also start making XP5 graphics chip for notebooks with DirectX 8.1 support.

Additionally, the company said that it has plans to expand its team by at least 50% from the current 250 members of the staff. All-in-all, XGI is trying to convince everybody that it came here seriously to compete with two graphics mammoths: NVIDIA Corporation and ATI Technologies. Since XGI is based in Taiwan, the costs of operation should be lower compared to the rivals and this should give a benefit to the startup.

Now we know about XGI’s admirable plans we are waiting for the actual products and signed contracts from the firm.
