Soltek, a well-known mainboard maker who manufactures a lineup of graphics cards powered by GPUs from NVIDIA, today said it adds entry-level graphics cards based on ATI graphics processors into the family.

Soltek entered graphics cards business about two years ago and has been offering variety of graphics cards based on GeForce4 and GeForce FX technology. In late 2002 the firm also initiated production of SiS Xabre 600-based graphics cards, though, that lineup was not a success. Today the firm wants to expand its family with ATI RADEON 9200 SE and ATI RADEON 9600 SE entry-level graphics cards.

The SL-9600S-PD is built upon the RADEON 9600 SE graphics processor clocked at 325MHz and equipped with 64-bit DDR SDRAM memory at 400MHz. The part comes with D-Sub, DVI-I and TV-Out connectors. The SL-9200S-PT and SL-9200S-CT products with 128MB and 64MB of onboard 64-bit 333MHz DDR memory respectively are powered by RADEON 9200 SE GPU. The boards have D-Sub and TV-Out connectors on.

Soltek is among a number of companies who adopted chips from ATI Technologies very recently. The firm does not sell a lot of graphics cards and itself is not likely to influence ATI’s financial results very significantly. On the other hand, Soltek continues an important trend involving massive adoption of ATI’s mainstream GPUs by the industry, which is definitely positive news for ATI.

Additional details of Soltek’s new graphics cards, e.g. pricing and availability, were not touched upon.
