ATI Technologies has unveiled a yet another addition to its lineup of products aimed at performance-mainstream market. While the firm declares a new name for the product called RADEON X800 GTO, specifications of the part resemble those of the RADEON X800, which was unveiled late in 2004.
ATI RADEON X800 GTO combines a graphics processor clocked at 400MHz with 12 pixel and 6 vertex pipelines as well as 256MB of GDDR3 memory (with 256-bit memory interface) that may be clocked at 700MHz or 980MHz depending on the manufacturer. The product is designed for PCI Express x16 bus and may be equipped with DVDI-I, D-Sub, VIVO as well as HDTV connectors.
ATI did not unveil recommended pricing of the RADEON X800 GTO product as it may vary depending on the manufacturer, performance, capabilities and product bundle. Nevertheless, it is highly likely that the X800 GTO is to be priced in the range of $200. At that price point the part is set to compete against the GeForce 6800, which has manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) of $199.
The RADEON X800-series visual processing units (VPUs) support DirectX 9.0, Shader Model 2.0b, 3Dc technology and other capabilities.
Markham, Ontario-based ATI said that twelve manufacturers, including ABIT Computer, ASUSTeK Computer, Connect3D, Diamond Multimedia, Gigabyte Technologies, Hightech Information Systems, GeCube, Micro-Star International (MSI), Palit Systems, Sapphire Technologies, Tul Corp. and Visiontek, would ship the RADEON X800 GTO-based graphics cards.
