S3 Graphics, a relatively small designer of graphics processing units (GPUs) that belongs to Taiwanese Via Technologies, has announced that it had managed to win several design with add-in-card makers as well as large OEMs.

Axper, a company affiliated with Gigabyte, has said it would release graphics cards powered by S3’s Chrome S25 and S27 graphics processors. Additionally, S3 showcases at CeBIT 2006 graphics boards from Digicool company powered by the aforementioned processors.

S3 Graphics also said during the world’s largest trade show that the GammaChrome XM18 chips are used by Fujitsu in its laptops. Moreover, the company implied that its Chrome S20-family of GPUs have received positive responses from OEMs and several “large” system builders will use them later this year.

Volumes of the deals are unclear, however, companies like S3 Graphics and Via Technologies usually sell their chips in quantities starting from 10 000 units.
