Sapphire Technology, the world’s largest producer of AMD/ATI Radeon-based graphics cards, said Tuesday that its new Ultimate edition of the Radeon X1950 Pro graphics cards can outperform rivals while providing more efficient and quieter cooling.

The new Sapphire Radeon X1950 Pro Ultimate edition clocks graphics processing unit (GPU) at 580MHz and memory at 1600MHz, up from 575MHz/1380MHz on typical graphics cards running the well-known code-named RV570 GPU. The novelty also carries an advanced cooler from Zalman, which boasts with, heat-pipes, large diameter and a low-speed fan for efficient, yet silent cooling.

ATI Radeon X1950 Pro employs code-named RV570 graphics chip and has 36 pixel shader processors, 8 vertex shader processors 12 texture units, 256-bit memory bus and so on. ATI recommends graphics cards makers to clock the Radeon X1950 Pro at 575MHz and memory at 1.38GHz.

Sapphire claims that the Radeon X1950 Pro Ultimate edition performs about 5% better compared to typical graphics cards of the kind depending on the application.

Pricing of the new Sapphire Radeon X1950 Pro Ultimate edition is so far unknown. ATI has set the recommended retail price of the X1950 Pro at $199.
