It was believed until recently that AMD will be launching R600, RV630 and RV610 based graphics cards either in early May or in the middle of the month. These forecasts were based on the information we received from AMD partners, so it was certainly less credible than the statements made by the company officials. At this time the preview of these solutions is being held in Tunisia for members of the worldwide press.

At the quarterly conference AMD representatives were speaking about their plans regarding the launch of these upcoming graphics solutions, the detailed transcripts from the briefing can be found here. Henry Richard shared some data about the upcoming R600 based graphics cards announcement. Now we are talking about the second half of May. AMD has already picked the place for their launch. In May they will reveal 10 solutions supporting DirectX 10. And when someone asked whether there will be enough graphics cards for beginning of shipments, Henry Richard answered that AMD had never been known for paper launches.

We dare suppose that most of the upcoming graphics solutions will be built around RV630 and RV610 chips, however, there will certainly be a few flagship products on the powerful R600 as well. Most online sources assume that its will take R600 model with 1GB of GDDR-4 some time before it actually hits the stores, and at first the users will have to be happy with Radeon HD 2900 XT featuring 512MB of GDDR-3 memory onboard. Well, let’s be patient and the truth will soon be known.
