MicroStar International was the first company to showcase the GeForce4 Ti4800SE-based graphics card for Europe market and is now also the first to start selling their product line up powered by the mentioned GPU. This weekend various MSI Ti4800SE devices appeared in Japanese retail, as I have learned over this web-site.

The GeForce4 Ti4800SE based graphics cards should run at 275MHz for core and 550MHz for memory; in contrast, the GeForce4 Ti4800 and Ti4600 run at 300/650MHz for GPU/RAM.

Unfortunately, the rumours in regards the overpricing of the higher-end GeForce4 Titanium with AGP 8x support solutions were confirmed at this time. In Japan the GeForce4 Ti4800SE products appeared to be rather expensive, compared to both GeForce4 Titanium brethrens as well as the RADEON 9500 PRO graphics cards:

  • MSI G4Ti4800SE-T8X: with D-Sub and TV-Out connectors only; $220 - $250.
  • MSI G4Ti4800SE-TD8X: with D-Sub, DVI-I and TV-Out connectors; $225 - $250.
  • MSI G4Ti4800SE-VTD8X: with D-Sub, DVI-I and VIVO; $235 - $250.

In a number of weeks such graphics cards will reach Europe. I do not think they will be massively popular due to their price and the lack of the DirectX 9.0 support, however, in case ATI will not be able to compete with NVIDIA in terms of quantity of their RADEON 9500 PRO products, MSI and other partners of the Santa Clara, California-based graphics processors developer will be able to sell the GeForce4 Titanium products for higher price for the second time, almost a year after the original announcement.
