Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS) today announced its new version of the Xabre600 graphics processor with VIVO functionality. Xabre600 now incorporates the BT835 multimedia chip from Conexant Systems which enables video-in capabilities.

SiS Xabre600 is built using 0.13 micron process technology and runs at 300/300MHz for core/memory. Just like all Xabre GPUs, this one features 4 rendering pipelines with 2 TMUs per each and supports DirectX 8.1 functionality by implementing pixel shading processor and emulating vertex shaders using CPU of the system. Integrating Conexant’s BT835 multimedia chipset, Xabre600 is able to provide a complete solution for analogue video decoding and NTSC/PAL/SECAM signal inputs. Therefore, SiS Xabre600 with built-in VIVO chip supports multiple interfaces such as CRT-out, Video-out (S-video), and DVI as well as the new Video-in (S-video) and Composite Video-in ports.

Connexant’s BT835 is a cost-effective video capture solution that delivers total integration of the video digitisation, synchronisation, 2H adaptive Y/C separation, scaling and VBI data pass-through functions. Using mixed signal and DSP circuitry, the BT835 converts an analogue composite video waveform into a scaled digital video stream while supporting a variety of video formats, resolutions and frame rates.

No word was said in regards pricing and availability of any actual products based on the new GPU that incorporates video capture solution.
