A new company called GigaCube recently appeared in Taiwan. Currently the vendor only offers ATI RADEON-based graphics cards on its web-site, however, the company does not plan to restrict itself with only graphics cards business.

According to the official information published on the web-site, one of the founders of this startup is Info-Tek Corporation. Info-Tec a big holding company from Taiwan known for being one of the biggest shareholders of Gigabyte Technology. GigaCube’s web-site even claims that Info-Tek Corporation is also called Gigabyte Group. The word “Giga” and the “G” logotype GigaCube uses, as well as close relations to Info-Tek allude us to possible relations between Gigabyte Technology and GigaCube.

A Gigabyte Technology official told me earlier today that GBT had invested in Infotek a  few years ago and was only a minor shareholder in this company. Both companies operated independently on finance, R&D and shared no common resources, according to the spokeswoman. Gigabyte Technology would also ask GigaCube to correct the logotype as soon as possible, it was added.

As we see, Gigabyte Technology claims that there are no relations between two companies. However, according to Taiwan Network Information Center (TWNIC), technical contact for gigacube.com.tw domain name is Hui Chuan Tseng, whose e-mail is judy.tseng@gigabyte.com.tw. A very interesting fact: apparently Gigabyte Technology registered the domain name for its “little friend” GigaCube. Nothing really suspicious here, but the question is why did Gigabyte Technology registered the domain name for GigaCube on the 10th of February this year? We still have to find it out, so stay tuned with us.
