From our earlier issues (see below the news-story) you have probably learnt quite a lot about NVIDIA’s upcoming GeForce FX 5900 aka NV35 graphics processor. Now the time has come to take a look at the graphics cards we all have been waiting for a couple of months already.

web-site was lucky enough to grab some pictures of NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900 and 5900 Ultra reference design and even was kind enough to publish them for our great enjoy.

The first thing we can notice about the GeForce FX 5900 Ultra is the absence of loud FlowFX cooling solution. Instead, there is a massive fan with a massive heat-sink that should be enough to cool down new NVIDIA’s 450MHz baby. It will still occupy a couple of slots, but will be quieter. Like all modern graphics cards, the GeForce FX 5900 will require additional power, so, there is a connector on the card. Since there are some chips mounted in front of the TV/VIVO connector, I can make a conclusion that there are no integrated TV or VIVO controllers on the GPU itself; furthermore, it seems that there is no TMDS transmitter as well, as there is an external chip connected to the DVI-I output. The PCB design does seem to be a complex one and the PCB is also big. Hopefully, this will not lead to limited availability of the part. There is a 10-pin connector on the top side of the graphics card which earmarking is not clear at this point. Maybe it is for various daughter cards with interesting features? Or maybe it is just for NVIDIA’s technical staff?
