NVIDIA’s new speedy and so speedy graphics processors from the NV3x family are set to come in August and September, our unofficial sources revealed today. Meanwhile, although NVIDIA is quite happy with its NV40 design, the graphics processor itself will be available by Christmas at earliest, we were told.
<%BANNER[article]%>Apparently, the NV33 graphics chip is on track to come as early as in August, while the NV36 will appear in September. The latter will probably fight against ATI’s new VPUs coming out soon, while the former was meant to be a DirectX 9.0-compatible chip for tiny mobile devices, though, there might be some changes in NVIDIA’s approach and the NV33 will be intended for a different market and will have a bit different specifications as well.
At this point NVIDIA is concentrating on offering a broad range of solutions using current technology, such as the GeForce FX 5600 and the GeForce FX 5200. Probably you will hear about new product designs with various juicy features soon.
As for the NV40 ramp up later this year, that is the question NVIDIA’s CEO himself will probably has to answer during the quarter’s conference call or even earlier.
