NVIDIA Corporation’s Brian Burke today confirmed the so-called flickering issues with some of NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900-series GPU-based graphics cards. The firm now offers a special software fix for the problem at web-sites devoted to NVIDIA hardware.

Earlier this year a number of web-sites and bulletin boards reported about a slight “flickering” of the image on the screen, visible on a light color background in certain 3D scenes. After examining the information available, NVIDIA has determined that the issue may involve an interaction between select combinations of the graphics card, system, monitor, other electronic components and the application which creates noise or signal interference.

There are no details about the reason of the problem, but if you still experience the issue, try downloading the patch here or here, or the new driver version here. Pay attention to the fact that NVIDIA itself does not host the software on its own web-site.
