As we have already told you here, we have been trying to convert out RADEON 9500 64MB into a fully fledged RADEON 9500 Pro 64MB. Although the physical modification didn’t arouse any questions, the second part of this modification procedure turned out a stumbling stone: the BIOS needed to be modified as well, as we couldn’t at once find a solution.

But, after we posted that news story yesterday, we received a lot of feedback from our readers and even got a BIOS version, which helped us to finish the conversion successfully. To get this BIOS version we would recommend following the advice given by a guy known as rapsac in Rage3D forums. Rapsac suggested taking the hacked BIOS for RADEON 9500 Pro and in any hex editor edit it to $70:44 76 4e 37 90 08 02 10 02. The BIOS will then have incorrect checksum, but to repair it you will need just to open the file with BIOS radedit and save it without changes.<%BANNER[article]%>

We were very happy to receive a ready-to-work BIOS file from rapsac, so that now our redesigned RADEON 9500 64MB graphics card is recognized as RADEON 9500 Pro 64MB. You can download it here

We tested the card after reflashing the new BIOS and didn’t discover any problems with its stability or performance (see the results here). It worked well with Catalyst 3.0 as well as Catalyst 2.5 drivers.
