Leading CPU Firms Prep for Notebook Battle. The Chipmakers' Laptop Rumble is Ahead

While everyone’s attention is turned towards desktop PCs and their evolvement, the most furious battle for market share is about to start in the notebook market segment. Intel has a steady lead in the notebook business with the Centrino brand as for Advances Micro Devices, they are only about to start the competition.

“Today, notebook-chip sales represent about 19% of Intel’s revenue, compared with just 6% of AMD’s,” estimates analyst Andrew Root at Goldman Sachs.

“We believe we’re not capturing our fair share of the overall processor market,” says Hector Ruiz, chief executive of Advanced Micro Devices.
