Apple Makes Mac Mini Boosting Cheaper. Apple Cuts Mac Mini Upgrade Prices

2:40 pm | Yaroslav Lyssenko

Apple Computer, a maker of proprietary PCs that is famous for selling its products at the price of luxury, did not stop with its effort to make its computers a little bit more affordable by introducing relatively low-cost Mini Mac. Now Apple is cutting down costs for some of Mini Mac’s upgrades.

“Upgrading the diminutive desktop to 1GB of memory initially cost $475 - almost as much as the computer. It now costs $325. Apple also reduced the price for adding Bluetooth and AirPort Extreme to $99, a $30 drop, and it cut the price for upgrading to an 80GB hard drive to $50,” claims an article over CNET News.com.

Fujitsu Reportedly Leaving PDP Market as Competition Intensifies. Fujitsu May Cease PDP Manufacturing

2:37 pm | Yaroslav Lyssenko

Constant technology evolution and development do not always bring profits to companies. As the time pasts even the oldest players have to decide whether to stay in the business or quit. Such a decision was made recently by IBM, who sold its PC business unit to Lenovo, and now it seems that Fujitsu has to make a similar decision about the company’s future in the plasma display panel market.

“Despite robust market demand, Fujitsu Ltd. is considering scaling down or completely withdrawing from the plasma display panel (PDP) business, according to Japanese news reports. High capital investment costs, growing competition from LCDs, and intensifying competition from Korean suppliers are all giving Japanese companies second thoughts on continuing in the plasma display business, despite growing demand,” claims reports over EETimes web-site.
