News around the WebWednesday, October 19, 2005Affordable Computers for Work and Entertainment. Entry Level Buyer’s Guide Posted 1:37 pm | Yaroslav LyssenkoSometimes building a value computer is as challenging as a high-performance machine: there are pretty a lot of inexpensive hardware on the market, but not all the components offer enough functionality, reliability, comfort and future proof. AnandTech web-site has posted an article which may serve as a guide to the value system builder. The guide includes recommendations on system components for both office and gaming orientated machines. “We’ll give it a shot, though, with the goal of getting as close as possible to $500 for the non-gaming systems and $750 for the gaming configuration. We’ll be including an AMD as well as an Intel configuration for each of the recommendations. Performance and price are competitive in the budget realm, with AMD holding an overall lead at present. […] If the computer can get the job done and the user doesn’t feel that it’s too slow, the goal has been achieved. Price is generally a bigger concern than loading a web page one second faster,” AnandTech explains. The web-site recommends AMD Sempron 2600+ and Intel Celeron D 331 processors along with mainboards featuring integrated graphics cores based on NVIDIA nForce 6100 and ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 chipsets for entry-level computers. For gamers AnandTech recommends to get AMD Sempron 3000+ or Intel Celeron 331-based computers running NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT graphics cards. All Latest News |
